SEPTEMBER 20, 2020
James 4:1-10

Vs. 6 & 10 – He gives us more Grace, and He will lift us up.

What Are The Steps
Step 1. Remember the loving desire of God.
Vs. 5 – The Holy Spirit whom God has placed within us with tender
jealousy.
Step 2. Remove the obstacles to real life.
Vs. 6 – He gives us more grace.
Vs. 10 – He will lift us up.
 Lifts us from attitudes that work against us.
Vs. 1 – What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they
come from your desires that battle within you?
Vs. 2 – You want something, but don’t get it. You kill and covet but
you cannot have what you want because you ask with wrong
motives.
Vs. 11 – Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks
against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges
it.
 Lift us from a life of prayerlessness.
 Lift us from improper motives for living.
Vs. 4 – Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred
towards God?
Step 3. Rely on Christ’s support.
Jude 1:24 – To him who is able to keep you from falling and to
present you before His glorious presence without fault and with
great joy.

Step 4. Respond to Christ’s security.
II Tim. 1:12 – I know whom I have believed and am
convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to
Him.
Williams Translation: I am absolutely sure that God is able
to guard what I have given to Him.
Step 5. Reverse the flow.
Vs. 10 – Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift
you up.
Vs. 6 – God gives grace to the humble.
4 Steps

· Give in to God.
Vs. 7 – Submit yourself then to God.
Col 3:15 – Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart.
· Get wise to Satan.
Vs. 7 – Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
II Cor. 2:11 – In order that Satan might not outwit us, we are
not unaware of his schemes.
· Grow closer to God.
Vs. 8 – Come near to God and He will come near to you.
Isa 26:3 – He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in
Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord.
· More Grace than forgiving Grace.
Vs. 8 & 9 – Wash your hands, purify your hearts.
