MOVING TO A LIFE OF COMMITMENT

II Chr. 16:9 – The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.

I. THE POWER OF COMMITMENT

My Commitments:
Show my values (Mt. 6:24)
Shape my life Pr. 4:23)
Determine my destiny (Mk. 8:36)

II. THE PRICE OF COMMITMENT

Luke 14:26 – If you want to be My follower, you must love Me more than your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers, and sisters, yes, more that your own life. Otherwise you cannot be my disciple.

I GIVE CHRIST
The first thoughts of each day.
Luke 14:26 – Each morning I will look to You in heaven and lay my requests before you.

I GIVE CHRIST
The first day of each week.
Acts 20:7 – On the first day of the week, the disciples came together.

I GIVE CHRIST
The first 10% of every paycheck.
Pr. 3:9 – Honor the Lord by giving Him the first part of all your income.

I GIVE CHRIST
The first consideration in every decision.
Pr. 3:5-6 – In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

III. THE PITFALLS OF COMMITMENT

1. We get distracted.
Mark 4:19 – The attractions of this world, the delights of wealth, the search for success and lure of nice things come in and crow out God.

2. We become complacent.
Rom. 12:11 – Don’t be lazy in showing your devotion. Use your energy to serve the Lord.

IV. THE PAYOFF FOR TOTAL COMMITMENT

1. Short term.
Matt. 6:31-33 – Do not worry, saying, what shall we eat or drink or wear? Your heavenly Father knows that you need these. But seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

2. Long term.
Matt. 25:23 – The Master will say, well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness.

Rom. 6:13b – Give yourselves completely to God, every part of you, you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for His good purposes.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
